Here at Greenbelt S.I.T.Y. Stars, we desire to develop each student's love for jump rope as well as fitness, a strong technical foundation, and the ability to perform as well as an artist.  This policy is for your information and benefit. We request that you please read it thoroughly to avoid any possible misunderstandings in the future.  Please retain it for your reference.

  • Enrollment is for a continuous period each year from September through June (10 months).  We encourage students to finish the year so as to complete the planned curriculum.

  • In order to keep up with the level of the class, each student must maintain good attendance and be on time for the beginning of the class.  This helps the student warm up properly and prevent injury.

  • New Jumpers to GSS are required to take our Introduction to Jump Rope Class when registering

  • Placement is at the discretion of the Greenbelt S.I.T.Y. Stars.  All students are carefully placed in levels to ensure maximum progress, depending on ability, strength and skill level based on the judgment of the directors and instructors.

  • Advancement, however, depends upon attendance, application, attitude, artistic abilities, accomplishment, practicing at home and skill improvement, not necessarily upon age, or length of time spent studying jump rope.

  • The Registration Fee and first month's tuition are due upon enrollment after confirmation of accuracy.

  • The Registration fee is non-refundable.

  • Tuition payments are non-refundable.

  • Payments must be made via Mastercard, Visa, or bank draft (check).

  • Charges will occur the 5th calendar day of every month.

  • Students attending any classes during a month will be charged one full month's tuition.

  • Monthly tuition is charged until the team has received a written request of cancellation / withdrawal.

  • Tuition is to be paid IN ADVANCE  according to the payment schedule.  See Tuition for details.

  • A withdrawal can only become effective when the team is notified in writing 30 days in advance of a new four week period according to the payment schedule.

  • If tuition is not current, the student will not be allowed to continue classes.

    • There is a $40 per student non-refundable registration fee for each year; $75 for a family 93+ members.

    • A late fee of $15 will be assessed if payment is not made by the 10th of the month.

    • There will be a $35 charge for all returned checks.

  • Each student will be assigned a pin code, after registering, to be used for check-in/check out at all practices.

  • Students should arrive 10 minutes before class begins to use the rest room, fix hair and/or change into practice uniform (this ensures all dancers have adequate warm-up time to avoid injury).

  • Parents should come inside to check the jumpers in but are not allowed to remain, unless an official registered jumper of that class.  Parents should come into class 5 mins before the end time to check the jumpers out and obtain any necessary information.

  • If a jumper will arrive more than 15 minutes late, please send a text message to the instructor.  The jumper should enter class but try not to disrupt the other students, and begin the late warm-up in the designated area.

  • To take full advantage of the instruction covered, regular attendance is necessary.  Poor attendance and tardiness are disadvantages to the entire class.

  • Missed classes cannot be made up.  Attendance records are considered when advancing students to higher-level classes.

  • Make-up classes are only allowed for classes cancelled by the instructor.

  • Tuition is non-transferable and non-refundable.

  • ALL Practices are closed to spectators, parents, visitors.

  • Class time is not to be used for socializing.

  • Personal corrections are given for improvement, please look upon them as extra help.

  • No gum chewing, sitting down or hanging on bleaches will be allowed.

  • In order to participate in the Holiday and Spring Productions, each dancer must have paid the last month’s tuition prior to performing and have paid any performance fee required by GSS.

  • Other optional performances include parades, and our two scheduled productions.

  • The Groove Performers are an elite group of jumpers that apply for a position on the Performance team and are chosen by GSS' directors and instructors.

  • The Groove Performers represent the best of what GSS has to offer and are ambassadors to the community sharing happiness through jumping and bringing the joy of fitness to others.

  • Performances are scheduled throughout the year.

  • Female students should secure their hair in a neat bun - away from their face. If you have short hair, please use bobby pins to neatly secure it away from your face.

  • No jewelry should be worn in class (please leave jewelry at home as GSS is not responsible for items lost).

  • Please make sure your jumper’s clothes are clean and free from holes and stains.  If you need to purchase additional practice shirts, please contact Coach Kim.

  • Parents are asked to wait for the jumpers in the game room if remaining at the center and keep non-jumping children with them at all times.  Please do  not permit them to wander the premises unattended.

  • GSS' practice facilities are recreation centers owned and operated by the City of Greenbelt.  We are not responsible for the upkeep of the building nor the other users of the premises.  If you have any complaints, please contact Frank Jones or Brian Butler at 301-397-2212.
